Its a postal thing...

The first photo is of the postbox I use to post all my letters in unless I have to go to the post office. This resulted in me asking others to show me the post boxes they use. One of my friends ended up showing me 3 post boxes from 3 different countries and telling me its now my turn to show her 3 boxes from 3 differrent countries. As that was unlikely to happen I told her that I'll show her 3 British post boxes but instead it resulted in this!

Who knew that their were so many different types of post boxes. I'm going to keep taking photos of these kind of post boxes but in different locations. I know there are some types I still haven't taken photos of but these are local to me at the moment, either in the city, supermarket or on my way to my sisters.

If you fancy showing me your post boxes please link me in as I'd love to see all the different ones around the world. So far I've seen U.S, Holland, France and Germany. Quite sad considering all the countries in the world.

I'm in the process of taking photos of phone boxes which are appearing on my Samash81 account on Instagram.

A mini mail update

Here is a glimpse in to my mail world lately. I've received quite a few letters lately but I'm not one for photographing the actual letter even though I appreciate the contents a lot.
@elis_1983 thank you #snailmail #snailmailrevolution #cute #decotape #easter #stickers #letterUntitled@elis_1983 thank you so much, it was such a surprise. I've never had a foreign easter card before. I love these stamps also. #snailmail #stamps #postagestamp #airmail#sendsomething #postcard #snailmail #flowers #flowerfairyI received this amazing #postcard from @mellytree she bought it on the #isleofwight she also used this really lovely tape. I got some other goodies too... Spoilt once againFor some weird reason the only one I didn't have #10p #british #stamps #postagestamps #snailmail #snailmailrevolution
I got a card from my dutch friend but its in German for Easter, some things via send something and Instagram as I have started keeping track of all the fun stamps I'm using which has encouraged a few small friendly exchanges and 10p stamps as for some reason they were the only ones I didn't seem to have and kept needing.

Hopefully you are having good mail days lately.

Envelopes and Stamps first...

UntitledUntitledUntitledUntitled
I tend to have weeks where I get no mail at all and then others weeks where I receive some amazing things but its always great to come home from work and see a pretty envelope waiting for me, even if the envelope is plain the stamps usually are not. Unfortunately the man at my Post Office only uses stickers so my friends don't always get great stamps.
This next one is the first on my mini letter exchanges...
UntitledUntitled
I've only done one so far but I know I'll really enjoy it and will get something greate and thoughtful in return. The only down side is the mini as both myself and my partner are super long letter writers so keeping it to a postcard is a stuggle. We've decided to try and do a theme of what to write with each letter which also will be hard as I want to reply to what my friend has written and I know she will want to do the same... lets see how things go....

Have you got any ideas of themes we could write?
(for example favourites, dreams, wish lists, memories etc...)

Lovely Letters

I'm supposed to be doing a book review today but I just feel so rough and it doesn't help that it has been pouring with rain since yesterday morning... its so dark and miserable which matches my mood I guess! Its why it was so nice to come across this great swap idea and I couldn't resist joining and thought some of you maybe interested in it too. I've seen so many blog swaps in the past but have never joined even though I liked the idea of it but I've come to the point where I don't want to swap items for exactly the same items back but just in a different design as it isn't always to my taste or fits in with what my style is (like swapping paper for paper, stickers for stickers etc...). Where as swapping a letter for a letter is something a little different and with my recent handmade writing paper, themed envelope swap etc... I feel a little addicted. I can't wait to find out who my partner is so that I can start crafting... If you'd like to join you better be quick as you only have tomorrow and quite possibly Thursday to do it in. Have fun!

With Love....

On Instagram I have received a couple of offers from people to write letters but unfortunately I haven't been able to take people up on it as I worry about not being able to write back. One person though I decided to become a postcard pen-friend with as I've read about it on a few blogs and liked the idea. We agreed to create our own postcards but to send them in an envelope which meant I also had to decorate that which is fun.
UntitledUntitledUntitled
As you can see I decided to follow the theme of what I created for make my day with this one too as I was having so much fun. I can't wait to think of new themes to create for her if she decides to continue with these exchanges.

This postcard is smaller then the ones I created for make my day but it didn't matter with the word being shorter... I nearly cut up these tickets to remove the words but now I'm glad that I waited before doing it. I really wanted the tickets but didn't like the choice of words on them which I didn't pay so much attention to when buying it. These rubber stamps are now half price compared to when I bought it (£3 a complete bargain if you ask me). I have since bought some blank tickets so won't be chopping these ones up.

I managed to squeeze only a small amount on the back about myself which was hard as I'm used to rambling for England in my letters but it also makes it quite a challenge to see what unfolds over time in our postcards.
UntitledUntitled
I decided to go a little further and add some extra love in the envelope with these origami hearts and some half made origami lucky stars which she'll have to squeeze herself to create the stars. All those stars are one of each design of my paper strips that I own. I will soon need to buy some more strips as I'm starting to run low but I'll wait some time before doing that as it will only tempt me into buying some stationery from Janet Stores.

If this goes well that I may ask some of you if you'd like to do a handmade postcard exchange too on a regular basis.

Do you do a regular postcard  exchange?

Its Me...

I'm still around barely... I spent most of last week at my aunties house which is why I haven't posted all that many blog posts or commented much on your blogs. Also though it doesn't feel like I ever had holidays as I am still truly shattered and work is super hectic but I'm still in the easy two week period. From next week I'll find out truly what the work of my new role will be like....

One thing for sure though is that I have had the best weekend with the most amazing sunshine which seems to have disappeared today as we're back into rain again.... still I managed to get all my washing done and dried so I don't care....

Here is a little snippet of what I've done....
Received my wonderful #postcards from @goodnightlittlespoon you can buy some too from her etsy shop
I follow Goodnight Little Spoon's blog and watched the transformation of these silhouettes in to postcards that when she listed them in her Etsy shop I just couldn't help buying a set to use. I waited so impatiently to receive them and absolutely love them. I could never create anything like this as I'm hopeless at doing anything to do with people.
Sitting down to write a letter before going to bed #french #france #cookiemonster #bonjour #hello #cookie
I replied to a super cute sesame street letter with a simple letter pad....
#Apple rounds from #holland so delicious
I ate way too many of these Netherlands apple rounds as they were so delicious and almost as thin as a biscuit.
@lddhk as you can see I love them too, they are the first tapes I bought from #angoomart I also have a letter set which I can't bring myself to part with yet #carebears #decotape #snailmail
I showed off my Care Bear Tape collection, I just couldn't help it as I just love the brightness and fun side of them.
And these too #rubberstamps #yarn #thread #string #british
Finally it's cheaper so I can buy myself the things I wanted as I refused to pay full price due to the expensiveness with the Olympics and jubilee #british #stickersI'm just sitting down to craft with today's supplies and just noticed these on the back of the #stickers #borders #england #crafts
I went to the supermarket on Sunday but decided to check out the craft section at The Range first as I haven't been for some weeks and they have quite a few new ranges in from Docrafts that were so tempting to buy. In the end I only bought these because I have been drooling over them since they came out earlier this year but refused to pay the over the top prices for them due to the Olympics and Jubilee celebrations. These were reduced to about half price so I decided to finally buy them. I didn't even notice these stickers had borders on the back until I sat to craft last night and should hopefully have something to list on make my day soon.

After going to the supermarket I went out for a meal with someone from work. It was such a nice day/time but mostly it was nice just to get out and enjoy the sunshine. The day before I also went in to the city and bought myself a pair of shoes from Clarks for work as its not long until the weather gets worse. I always need new shoes as when the weather gets bad I only wear the one pair all day everyday and they don't seem to last long. I'm going to buy a pair of boots too when I get another Clark Voucher...

Now I need to make the most of my husband not being here to craft as late as possible as usually I couldn't as he was in bed about 8pm! As well as making the most of the last bit of lighter evenings as even though as you can see from my photos I'm already struggling with lighting.

How did you spend your weekend?
