Ira Levin ~Stepford Wives~

Read: On Kindle
Paid: 99p
Reason I choose it: I've always heard about the Stepford Wives theory so when the book came up on amazon for my kindle I had to buy it to read.

Summary
Joanna moves to the small countryside town of Stepford from the big city for a slowe pace of life but it becomes obvious straight away that all is not right when the women of the town are just obsessed with cleaning and have no time to socialise. The men go to the Mens Association club every evening which is situated at the top of the hill in a very fancy house.  Thankfully not long into moving into the town Bobbie turns up on Joanna's doorstep and they both begin to investigate the mystery behind the town as well as attempting to find a way to get out when things become to eerie but will they make it...

My opinion
I think its better to read the version without Chuck Palahniuks introduction as I feel that spoilt it for me as he basically gives the story line away before the story even begins. I've never watched the Stepford wives but have always heard about the Stepford theory so when I saw this book I had to get it in order to see what it was all about. I was firstly disappointed about the length of the book as its a short story but also with the details as it could have told us more about the mens association club and what went on there but also to find out  what converts them to that way of thinking. Also the ending was so disappointing so didn't make it worth the effort to read it at the end. In the middle of the book though it was really fascinating and gripping as I was so curious about the changes the women were going through and how it happened, what Joanna finds out etc....

  1. I enjoyed the movie for the most part, great casting decisions, especially Christopher Walken :)

  2. I thought about watching it but the reviews on the books said the movies didn't do it justice. I watched P.S I love you and hated it so I didn't want to risk it as it is a good story but it just doesn't go into enough details.
