On an adventure...

My friend is taking part in the send a snail mail a day month and I received this cut #wizardofoz #postcard
As some of you know I'm in the middle of reading Wizard of oz. I had hoped to finish it this month but I don't think it will be likely as I can't seem to bring myself to read anymore of it at the moment but who knows, I've set myself the challenge so I may still do it. I'm about 58% in to it so we will have to see.

A friend e-mailed me last week to tell me about a challenge she had come across and thought I would enjoy. Its the lettermo challenge which I've read about on a few blogs but decided it wasn't for me right now with the way my health is still quite shakey. I do hope to make 30-31 postcards and send them to children on Postpals when I feel up to it, I had planned to do make them over my Christmas holidays for January but it never happened. Hopefully in my next holidays (in 1.5 weeks) I will as I've already bought the stamps.

My friend however has taken part in the lettermo and I received that super cute postcard.

Do you enjoy taking part in challenges?

L.Frank Baum ~The Wizard Of Oz~

Read: On Kindle
Paid: 72p for a collection of 14 short stories
Rating:
Reason I choose it: I always loved the musical when I was a child but I'd always heard that the book was better so I wanted to read it and find out. It wasn't until January though that I got myself it on my Kindle as it wasn't available at all when I first looked.

Summary
We all know the story but I'll do a little summary anyway. Dorothy and Toto are swept away to the magical land of Oz when a cyclone sweeps through her part of Kansas. She is met by the Munkins, travels along the yellow brick road to the Emerald city with the care of a kiss from the East witch. She of course meets her companions along the way, Scarecrow, Tin Man and Lion as well as battling through various obstacles along the way....

My Opinion
I don't usually review my shorter reads but this is one that I mentioned that I bought and was going to read so decided to share my thoughts of it. For once I like both musical and book. With the musical you can understand that they couldn't fit everything in as it was already a super long thing to watch but it was nice to fill in the gaps of the China Town, Gylinda the good witch, more about the Emerald city and other things. Also it was surprising to find that her shoes were not originally Red but Silver, I think I like the idea of Red shoes more, maybe its just because I got used to it seeing that in the musical since I've watched it more then I've read it.

When adding this book to my Shelfari it came up with 40 books in the series but I believe my copy only has 14 which will probably be enough to read. Its nice though that they are short stories so may get to read them in between other books.
