You shouldn't have kept me waiting....

Cakes
My niece and I went to the supermarket after I collected her from nursery,
I told her she could have a gingerbread man so ended up going into the bakery just outside the supermarket.
When I went in there was a lady behind the counter who walked off just as I got close to the counter to the side of the store where the ovens were, another worker was cleaning the surface and I sent my niece with some money to ask for a gingerbread man and to pay for it.
She turned round and said I'll serve you in a second which was fair enough but some minutes passed and I stood looking at all the biscuits and cakes. When I had for the millionth time looked at the gingerbread man I realised all the buttons were made of icing and my niece loved smarties to pick off as its the only bit of chocolate she really gets.
I picked my niece up and walked out of the bakery but what is really funny is that if this worker hadn't wasted her time in serving me and the other one hadn't walked off I wouldn't have thought twice about it and would have purchased the item before I realised what the problem was.

Instead I got 2 gingerbread men where one worked out as the same price but was thicker, softer, nicer and had 2 button smarties on.

I'm sure though that she probably thought I was the rude one for not waiting to be served, if only she realised what her mistake was.

Have you ever left a store because they took too long to serve or you realised the item wasn't quite what you thought it was?

  1. I am working myself in customer service and it is not always easy. People are demanding and you have a lot of other things to do. Unfortunately you can not always serve right away, even if you want to. When I am running out of vegetables or have bread in the oven, I need to take care of that first. It is a matter of how you handle it with the customer. I always ask then if it is ok if I can do this or that first and they mostly understand. But I have myself left stores because of rude sellers

    1. The store was empty before I even went in so it wasn't actually like they were run off their feet and she was only cleaning a work surface which she could have gone back to. Where as what you mentioned is understandable if the store is busy or has a lot of people in so you may have gone un noticed or that you are just finishing preparing some food. I'm not bothered that she ignored us as it gave me time to realise it would be better going to the supermarket.

    2. Yeah I know, it always depends on the situation. People often don't realize, what all belongs to it. We had some school girls practicing and of course we can not et them serve customers. I went to instruct them in the back and my colleague was alone for a minute. A lady had two people infront of her and started screaming thy we have girls in the backroom....

    3. That is rude and unacceptable really. Its like when I go to the bank or post office not enough tills are open for the huge queue even though people are wondering around no one shouts so why in a situation like this.

  2. I once left the doctor after waiting for more than an hour - and that having an appointment! I never went back there, too. Whenever I went there, I had to wait so long, I decided at one point that it was enough.

    1. I would have stayed for that day also and never gone back. Ours is ok as you are seen in a resonable time but they are not the best. Do you have a really good service now?

  4. Oh yes I have done that myself and I am sure I will do it again if I feel the need to do so, sometimes staff can be a bit rude but what really pisses me off is when they over look a child as if the child isn't important enough to be served.......
