Sophie Nicholls~The Dress~

Read: On Kindle
Paid: 99p
Reason I choose it: I actually put off buying this book to start with but then decided it could be a really great book about 'The Dress' and other vintage clothes which lead to one big event.

Summary:
Ella and her mother Fabbia Moreno move to York after a friend of Fabbia's husband give them an opportunity to open a shop there. Fabbia is quite handy with a needle and enjoys making her own dresses as well as fixing vintage ones but as she's doing this she stitches in special words and messages within the seams which she tells her daughter are just some random things that come to mind. As time goes on Fabbia begins to reveal a little more of her past, her experiences but also a little about the sightings and feelings that Ella can sense. The villagers don't take to well to Fabbia and events start to turn quite nasty which result in Fabbia wanting to move on once again....

My Opinion
I expected this book to be something more then what it was. As I mentioned I thought there would be stories behind the clothes but that never really happened which is a little disappointing. Also there was references to a mysterious book under the bed, witchcraft practises and feeling/senses but nothing more was explained about this which I was disappointed about as it could have been quite interesting as well as real page turner.... The last thing was Fabbia's past which it started to refer to in the last quarter of the book which were fascinating but again it didn't go into enough detail and I actually thought it might mean Fabbia returning to her home land at the end to visit her grandmother... That last quarter was more interesting then the rest of the book though which was quite slow, what with the residents and their feelings/events, Fabbia's story etc...
